The Process

I thought I'd share the step by step process of painting
the watercolor vermilion flycatcher with you today.
I used a 6" x 8" sheet of beautiful handmade Twinrocker paper.

After scanning it I cut out the sky with Photoshop
and loved how it looked without the dark blue background.

Now I'm not so sure which one I like more so I thought I'd ask you guys.
With or without the blue sky?




He will be available at my Etsy shop later this week with a couple of new prints.

Prickly Pear

Remember this little guy?
I finally had a chance to paint him on a blooming prickly pear cactus.

Doily

Ever since I saw this doily stamp at Etsy I've been wanting to carve my own.

My friend Margie made me fall in love with doilies
and her crochet covered stones are always a source of inspiration & smiles for me :)

I drew the doily directly onto the rubber carving block.
First some concentric circles with a compass and then I drew the pattern in freestyle.

It took me a couple of hours to carve it.
It is by far the most complicated stamp I've done.

Jacaranda Tree

My favorite tree is in full bloom right now and I can't stop smiling.
Our new town of Queretaro is full of them!
I love that this particular tree grew under one of the arches
and wraps around the top the old aqueduct (built in the 1730s).

Look! My little birdie embroidered by Amanda. Isn't it pretty?
I think she did a great job. This is just one of many photos that I've received
from everyone that downloaded my birdie pattern and gave it a try.
